European Union SME Fund for Trademark and Designs
The European Commission and the EUIPO recently launched a financial grant program through the creation of a fund to incentivize the filing of trademarks and designs by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based in the European Union.
The Fund amounts to a total of €20 million and offers reimbursements of up to €1,500 per individual company. The fund is divided into five tranches of €4 million each, and applications are open from January 11, 2021, to September 30, 2021.
The SME Fund includes two different types of services:
Service 1 - IP SCAN – 75% discount on pre-diagnosis services
The pre-diagnosis includes a trademark and design portfolio evaluation service to assist companies in implementing the best business strategies for protecting their industrial property rights. The pre-diagnosis services of this program are available only through the national and regional IP offices of participating European Union countries. Italy does not currently participate in this service.
Service 2 - 50% reduction on basic fees for trademark and design applications
Through this service, you can obtain a 50% refund on basic fees for new trademark and design applications at both the Community and national levels.
Applications for the above-mentioned services can be submitted to the European Union Office (EUIPO) only during the five established time slots and in the manner requested by the Office.
You can find all the information needed to participate in this service and the application form at the following link: https://euipo.europa.eu/ohimportal/en/online-services/sme-fund#application-fees.
